Suffolk County Democratic Party--30 years of Dominance
The Hispanic population on Long Island has grown to the extent that Hispanic adults now outnumber non-Hispanic black adults in every town and city on Long Island; in the villages of Amityville, Freeport, and Valley Stream; and in the hamlets of Flanders, Huntington Station, New Cassel, Riverhead, Riverside, and Roslyn Heights. The political effect will not be fully felt until the recent immigrants in this group register to vote. Black pluralities in legislative districts drawn now may be outnumbered by Hispanic voters within the decade.
These maps reflect Ward Cleaver's progress on chopping parts of Long Island into constituencies of local government. The maps will be cleaned up when there is time. Computing the exact populations will take time, because the Bureau of Census has failed to post graphic maps of current geography that it changed between 2000 and 2010.
